Injections with Fillers
Those wrinkles, which are the result
of certain habitual facial expressions, can be initially treated very
successfully with Botox (Botulinumtoxin). Permanent wrinkles can be treated with
filling substances (fillers) such as hyaluronic acid.
Materials used
to fill Wrinkles (Fillers) All materials used in our practice to treat
wrinkles through injections under the surface of the skin are carefully selected
for complete bio-degradability or are carefully prepared from your own body
tissues. This enables you to be certain that your body will readily accept the
injections and show no undesirable reaction.
Hyaluronic acid
Hyaluronic acid is a normal, natural component of the connective tissues
that support your skin. Because of its nature-based chemical makeup and source,
hyaluronic acid has not been known to cause any of the allergic reactions that
can be caused by collagen. Pure Hyaluronic acid preparations, specifically
prepared in different strengths for the most effective treatment of the
different facial problem areas, are the best filling materials for eliminating
wrinkles. Slightly different Hyaluronic acid preparations are best for use in
cosmetic Mesotherapy or in a Meso-Lift and can also be used together with Botox
in a Meso-Botox treatment. This combination treatment is especially well suited
for use in eliminating the very fine lines and wrinkles in the facial and
dekollete areas. Whereas lightly netted Hyaluronic acid is best used on these
fine lines, a more heavily netted strength is used for deeper and larger
wrinkles and folds such as the nasolabial fold around the mouth or deeper frown
lines in the area of the brows. Depending on the strength of the hyaluronic acid
preparation used and the area to which it is applied, the beneficial effects can
last from four months to a year. Repeated treatments with Hyaluronic acid
increase the length of the time during which the improvements last. Because of
its excellent degree of acceptance in the body and its ability to be shaped and
moulded, hyaluronic acid is presently one of the very best "filling
preparations" on the market. This is especially true when it is used for lip
enhancements because the lips can be filled out naturally without that annoying,
unnatural "injected" look. Patients must be absolutely sure that they have taken
no blood thinning medications before this treatment. If you have used such
medications, you must be sure that you inform your plastic surgeon well in
advance of your lip enhancement or other procedures so that you can plan for a
successful treatment and avoid complications. When planning lip enhancement with
fillers reserve two to three days afterwards for the swelling to subside and the
full effect of the treatment to show.
Collagen Collagen is a
natural protein substance found in the connective tissues of your body. The
collagen products used in injections are produced from purified beef collagen.
Since allergic reactions to this collagen can occur, an allergy test will be
done four weeks in advance of your treatment to determine whether or not you are
allergic to this substance.
Lipo-Filling or Micro-Fat Transplantation
The use of fat cells from the patient's own fatty tissues for injections
is known in medical terms as "autologous fat transplantation" or "lipo-filling".
Normally the fat cells are taken from the abdominal, thigh or knee fat deposits
of the patient's own body and are ideally suited for building up sunken cheeks,
enhancing thin lips, filling in deep skin creases and eliminating laugh lines in
the lower facial area or lines in the forehead. In such cases, where a larger
amount of injection material is needed, lipo-filling is an excellent method to
use when it is correctly applied by a well-trained plastic surgeon. Tests have
shown that especially long lasting improvements can be achieved with this method
when used by a specialist who expertly extracts the fat cells and transplants
them to the areas where they are needed. This can result in as much as 50% or
more of the fat cells remaining where they are injected to permanently improve
the appearance of the treated area.
It is essential to the success of
your treatment that you put yourself in the hands of a highly qualified plastic
surgeon who can offer you "state of the art" procedures. Take advantage of our
consulting service and see "before and after" photographs of patients which have
been treated at our clinic.
